Wo-Zha-Wa Festival and Parade
Friday, September 13, 2013 - Sunday, September 15, 2013 10 am–4 pm (street festivities extend into late evening); sidewalk sales from 9 am–5 pm.
All of downtown Wisconsin Dells, the H.H. Bennett Studio included, marks the end of the summer tourism season with this huge festival named for the Ho-Chunk phrase meaning "to have fun." Carnival rides; food stands; sidewalk sales; an arts, antiques and crafts fair; and other street festivities culminate with the Wo-Zha-Wa Parade, one of Wisconsin's largest, on Sunday afternoon.
The H.H. Bennett Studio will offer curbside reserved seating under a canopy in front of the studio for the 1:30 pm parade. Contact the studio for reservations.
Citywide festival admission is free. Fees charged for food service, carnival rides and other paid attractions and services. Regular admission rates for H.H. Bennett Studio are: adults $7; children (5-17) $3.50; students and senior citizens (65 and older) $6; family (two adults and two or more dependent children 5-17) $19.
Venue: H.H. Bennett Studio
The historic 1875 studio of pioneer landscape photographer H.H. Bennett has been restored to its 1908 appearance. The studio and attached museum contain exhibits depicting the life and times of the man whose work brought tourists by the trainload to marvel at the beauty of the rugged Wisconsin Dells beginning in the late 19th century. Exhibits depict Bennett's prolific career, and high-end computer monitors reveal magnificent 3-D panoramas he captured on stereographic cameras he built by hand.
